The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Caraga Regional Office expressed its full support in the institutional integration of Surigao del Norte College of Arts and Trades (SNCAT), into the academic and governance framework of Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) during the LINGAS Summit 2026 held on May 20, 2026 at SNSU Main Campus, Surigao City
SNCAT is an agricultural institution in the province of Surigao del Norte which specializes in technical-vocational (TVET) and agricultural education, previously under the authority of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
This historic transition marked a significant milestone in strengthening the convergence of higher education and TVET, aligned with regional and national development priorities.
CHED Caraga further supports SNSU’s newest Institute for Skills Development and Lifelong Learning (ISDLL), which will serve as SNSU’s hub for TVET programs, diploma offerings, certification and assessment, Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP), micro-credentials, and other lifelong learning initiatives.
Dr. Nelia A. Alibin, Director IV, CHED Caraga, joined university officials, representatives from TESDA, and other stakeholders during the ceremony and conveyed the Commission’s support for initiatives that promote innovation, lifelong learning, and strengthened academic and technical-vocational linkages in the region.
